Why I hate SPAM mail

(0)

I am a woman, and I have a GMAIL account. Now there is nothing wrong with have a GMAIL account and if anything, it is a blessing in disguise because it has a good spam filter. Occasionally though some of that spam gets through the system and ends up in my normal desktop mail client. On the desktop I have favoured Windows Live Mail, which is a departure from Incredimail which I had used for several years until they got greedy and charge to have the junk mail filter. So why do I emphasize that I am a woman? Because I do not have a male appendage and a lot of that junk mail is directed towards a man's penis.

It really is extremely annoying to be bombarded with junk mail that refers to penis enlargement or viagara. Now why would I be interested in either since I am a woman? Let's face it, I am a married woman and I am not interested in what some other woman might think about my anatomy, or what is missing from my anatomy. I am not interested in taking anything for erectile dysfunction because that is something that I do not possess.

The vast majority of the spam is related to that particular subject, and yes I have even received spam mails from women in Russia. Then there are the constant emails from people in Nigeria or elsewhere wanting to offload millions of dollars. Yeah right, as if I would fall for those letters. They are so darned annoying and there never seems to be an end to them.

The most pathetic spam has to come from people trying to sell drugs over the Internet. Now this is prescription medication, not the illegal stuff. The prices are extremely low, but that is the catch. It is illegal to purchase prescription medication without a prescription. Also, purchasing over the Internet is not going to ensure the quality of the product, let alone a guarantee that what is ordered will ever arrive. Sorry, no dice, because I might need to get certain scripts filled but I will never do it over the Internet.

If the prescription medication is not annoying enough, then the OEM sellers of software are even more annoying. How can anyone know if the product is genuine if it is not being sold by the originator of the product over the Internet? If I want to purchase Microsoft products, then I will purchase the product from Microsoft, unless the deal is from some other legitimate source - such as Lenovo.

Then there is the very strange stock market reports. Once again, how would anyone know if these reports are genuine? As a non-American I would have no way of verifying such information. This kind of spam is appealing to the greedy who are likely to take up the suggestion and then find themselves losing money. No thanks.

I get more than 20 spam mails in one day. Sometimes there is mail that is caught that is not spam. I am on several lists and there are some women who have a habit of flooding the lists with posts - usually with stupid, dumb blonde type posts that are extremely annoying because of their anti-Catholic bigotry. There have been many times when GMAIL and Windows Live Mail have picked up these posts as spam. It seems that the system can work well, especially when it is mail that comes from truly annoying people.

Yes, I love the way that the spam filters will work, but I still hate getting spam.
